The Conference Vision Forum

The Conference Vision Forum is responsible for developing a statement of vision for the annual conference and presenting it to the annual conference for consideration and adoption.  It is also responsible for the on-going process of refining and revising the vision of the conference, as needed.  The forum will meet semi-annually and at the call of the executive committee.

The Conference Vision Forum shall work together to set the overall vision of the North Georgia Annual Conference.  In accordance with Paragraph 607 of the 2000 Book of Discipline, the Conference Vision Forum shall “envision the ministries necessary to live out the mission of the church in and through the annual conference.” In so doing, the Conference Vision Forum shall provide a clear and workable vision for ministry that shall guide the annual conference in the implementation of ministry.  In setting the vision of the annual conference, the Conference Vision Forum shall also take into consideration both the immediate and long range challenges and goals of the annual conference as they relate to the local, district, and general church ministries and financial impact.

The Conference Vision Forum will be chaired by the director of connectional ministries in consultation with the resident bishop.  The forum will be composed of 90 persons, including the bishop, the director of connectional ministries, the four program team leaders, the district superintendents, the executive assistant to the bishop, the director of ministerial services, the director of church development, the conference treasurer, the chairperson of the council on finance and administration, the chairperson of the board of ordained ministry, the secretary of the annual conference, the conference chancellor, the conference lay leader, the associate conference lay leaders, laity and clergy members of the General Conference Delegation and the Jurisdictional Conference Delegation and other at-large members nominated by the Conference Committee on Nominations.  The Conference Committee on Nominations will nominate the additional at-large members to serve on the forum to provide for diversity and inclusiveness in regards to race, age, gender and national origin and to ensure that there will be a 50% clergy/50% laity ratio on the forum.

Persons who are elected to General and Jurisdictional Conference will begin to serve on the conference vision team after annual conference the year of their election to the delegation. At-large members will be elected for the quadrennium and are limited to eight consecutive years on the Conference Vision Forum.  At-large members will begin to serve at the time of their election.

There will be an Executive Committee of the Conference Vision Forum composed of the bishop, the director of connectional ministries, the conference lay leader, the dean of the cabinet, and five other persons from the Conference Vision Forum who are appointed by the chair.
