"I urge, therefore, that entreaties
and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of. . . all who are in authority. . .
that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and
dignity" (1 Timothy
2:1-2).
- Pray that our government leaders will be granted wisdom, knowledge and understanding (James 1:5)
- Pray that they will recognize their own inadequacy and seek the will of God (Proverbs 3:5-8).
- Pray that they will uphold God's divine order and His principles of morality, including showing a respect for the sanctity of life and for the role of the family in maintaining a strong society (Ephesians 5:22-6:1)
- Pray that our leaders will desire humility and will be willing to serve and cooperate (John 13:14).
- Pray that they will read the Bible (Psalm 119).
- Pray that they will be given wise counselors. (Proverbs 24:6)
- Pray that our leaders will be honest and ethical in financial matters. (1 Timothy 6:6-10)
- Ask God to open the hearts and minds of leaders who need to turn to Jesus in repentance and faith.
- Pray that our leaders who are believers would live out their faith in public life.
