This guide is helpful in
praying for any follower of Christ -- friends, church members,
missionaries, ministry leaders -- if you don't have specific requests
about which to pray.
AnointingAsk God for the anointing of the Holy Spirit on this person so he or she will be operating out of the Spirit's power, not out of human abilities. (1 Corinthians 1:21-22)
BoldnessPray that this person will speak the Word of God with boldness. (II Timothy 1:7)
ComfortAsk for comfort in those times when this person is discouraged, brokenhearted, or stressed so he or she can pass that comfort on to others. (II Corinthians 1:3-4)
DirectionAsk that this person will be able to sense God's specific direction in his or her life. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
EncouragementAsk God to send someone to encourage this person. (Hebrews 3:12-13)
FamilyPray that this person will be able to guide his or her children in the way they should go and would be the kind of spouse who please the Lord. (Isaiah 40:11; Ephesians 5:33)
Glory to GodPray that every minute of this person's day will be lived to glorify God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
HumilityAsk that this person will develop a sense of humility, rejecting pride. (1 Peter 5:5-6; Proverbs 15:33)
InsightAsk that this person will see people and things from God's perspective.
JoyPray that this person will be full of the joy of the Lord in all situations. (Nehemiah 8:10)
KnowledgePray that this Christian will crave the knowledge of God's Word and apply it consistently. (Psalm 119:105; Romans 11:33)
LoveAsk that this person will be a vessel through which God's love flows to others. (1 John 3:16)
MotivationPray that this person will do his or her work from godly motives, not to please other people. (1 Thessalonians 2:4)
NeedsPray that the person you are praying for will realize that in Christ all of his or her needs will be met. (2 Peter 1:3)
Open DoorPray that the person you are praying for will recognize opportunities to share the gospel.
Prayer PartnersAs God to provide prayer partners for this person, people who will intercede on a regular basis. (2 Thessalonians 1:11)
Quiet TimePray that nothing will get in the way of this person having a quality quiet time with the Lord each day in which knowing who God is and what He does becomes a priority. (Psalm 46:10)
RevivalAsk God to work in this person's life so he or she will be willing to meet the conditions for personal revival. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
ServanthoodPray that this person will do his or her work with a servant spirit.
Thankful HeartAsk that this person will learn to thank God for what He is doing even in difficult situations.
UnsavedPray that the unsaved people this person encounters will develop a hunger and thirst for Jesus Christ in their lives. (2 Corinthians 4:4-6)
VictoryPray that this person will know the victory in spiritual warfare. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
WearinessPray that this person will not get bogged down in having too much to do.
X-Ray VisionAsk that this person will have "X-ray vision" of the heart, to see anything in his or her life that needs to be confessed to God. Pray that the person will desire a cleansed life. (Psalm 51)
YieldednessPray that the person will be completely yielded to Christ, being willing to be dead to self. (Galatians 2:20)
ZealPray that the person will have a renewed zeal to share the gospel. (Colossians 1:28-29)
