Everything we need
The covenant assures us
of God's constant care

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

Sermons
The beginning of a new year is like turning a page and being able to start over on a clean sheet of paper.

All of us have a need to start afresh, to have a clean slate, a new lease on life.

How comforting are these words from Lamentations:

...His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.

In other words, God offers a fresh start not just once a year but each and every day!


The blessings of the Covenant

Through Jesus Christ, we are the beneificiaries of a covenant with God Himself, a covenant that should revolutionize our day-to-day living.

The Apostle Peter put it this way:

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Participation in God's nature opens to us the experience of

• the fullness of His peace;
• the power of His presence;
• the comfort of His provision.


Our part

As always, with privilege comes responsibility. To enjoy the privileges of the covenant we must be seeking to live by the covenant.

What does the Lord require of us?

God answered that through the prophet Micah:

And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.


Trusting the Lord

Let us walk together into the plans God has made for us this year, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future "(Jeremiah 29:11).

And no matter what this year may bring, we can trust Him to give us everything we need, day by day.

...His compassions never fail, they are new every morning.
