FROM
THE BISHOP From First,
the financial figures: For the year, we
paid our apportionments at 91.9
percent, a 2.3 percent increase over
2005. I am
thankful for your faithful giving, and
I applaud the diligent work of local
church treasurers and finance
committees. Preliminary
figures are now available showing our
membership gains in 2006. Our
total membership at the end of 2006 was
346,430, an increase of 4,385
persons. Our
consistent record of membership growth
rests heavily upon our efforts at
planting new churches and the emphasis
which our superintendents, pastors and
laity place upon evangelism. There is
no substitute for effectively inviting
people into a relationship with Jesus
Christ. In
2007, may we all continue to be
faithful to our primary task of making
disciples for the transformation of the
world. I
pray God's blessings upon each church
and pastor as we seek to live the
gospel in a way that wins people to
Jesus Christ. Bishop

Assessing

progress
Giving
and membership both up in
2006
The
laity and clergy of the North Georgia
Conference had a splendid record of
stewardship as well as faithfulness to
evangelism in 2006.

Growth
in members
Although these figures may be adjusted
slightly as we audit each report, it
looks as though the Conference grew
once again in 2006 in net professing
members.
