still believe that -- but for us to
pray accurately to be responsive to
God's leading, we all need to be aware
of just what the church's needs are.
Several
people have asked about our financial
need so here it is in round figures:
2007
General Budget
requirement $15,500
per month Mortgage
payment on new building 4,500
per month Meeting
these regular financial needs may sound
staggering for a church of Gateway's
size, but with God's help we can do
it. Our
average monthly income for the building
fund for the last twelve months was
$6,473 (forthe last 29 months it was
$4,714). Of
course, these figures include a $20,000
matching gift challenge that we can't
count on for future years. But
removing the $20,000 gift we still
averaged $4,800 for the last 12 months
and $4,024 for the last 29 months! So
at worst we're short only $500 per
month! I
know that period of time was during the
construction phase and it may be more
difficult to maintain that level of
giving for the long term, but we have
seen God provide before, and that
should make us confident.
In my
first year as pastor here our annual
budget was $16,000. That's right --
our annual
budget in 1985 was less than our
present monthly
receipts. If God can take us from
where we then to where we are now,
surely He get us the rest of the
way. We
have a serious challenge ahead of us,
but we can do it, because God will help
-- and with God all things are possible
(Matthew 19:26)! Thank
you for your commitment to the Kingdom
and to this church -- and thank you for
your faithfulness in giving through the
years. Remember,
God loves you and so does the preacher.
