Many people say they believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but they don't live like it. The resurrection changes everything, but these people don't seem to realize it -- it makes no difference in their day-to-day existence. God wants us to be fully alive in the present moment. We can't live in the past and we can't live in the future. Yet how we understand both past and future have a tremendous impact on how we live today. From the past, we know that the resurrection of Jesus is a fact of history. And this fact -- that God raised Jesus from the dead -- also tells where we're going! The resurrection should totally reorient our lives, because we know that God is unfolding his plan and is bringing about, as the passage from Jeremiah says, "the future that we hope for." It will be, as Paul writes, "a perfect ending." How then should we live if God has a plan for us and for the world? It's a simple as this: Know where you came from, know where you're going, then live like it! Jesus is the resurrection and the life!
